Our claim for the 20th century is not a valid claim for
the
21st century. The best available bloodlines for the 20th
century
are not the best available blood lines for the 21st century. The
evidence collected over the past decade (see The Pointer Breeders'
Almanac)
clearly indicate that the best bloodlines today (in terms of sire lines
most likely to produce field trial winners) are Black Crude and
Go
Boy's Shadow. To that end we have been pursuing the goal of
having
these bloodlines incorporated into our current bloodline &
eventually
to become dominant.
The
Black Crude Connection
Black
Crude
Flint Shoals
Rooster
We bred Faraway Xaviera to Flint Shoal's Rooster, an
apparently extremely prepotent son of Black Crude. His stats look even
more impressive than did Black Crude's but because the sample size is
so
small no valid generalizations can be made. From that litter we
selected Faraway Eddie to remain here
as our foundation stud from the Black Crude line.
Eddie, young, rough and not yet finished, has demonstrated that
he
is one of the "mostest" in the southeast.
The
Go Boy's Shadow Connection
Go Boy's
Shadow
Joe Shadow
Joe Shadow (50% Go Boy's Shadow) appeared the best of
the descendents of the Go Boy's Shadow line.
That he twice won the Florida Championship and also won
the Continental increased his status in our eye.We bred Faraway
Rambling
Wanda (50% Rebel) to him and kept two of them as foundation bitches.

update of the above
In the last century, because of his extreme potency, we
added the shooting dog Guard Rail
genes to our bloodline. This century a new extremely high potency
shooting dog, Mrawsum (shown
below),
emerged. All the data isn't in yet, but it appears that he might
be even more prepotent that the great Guard Rail. In keeping with
our philosophy of incorporating only the most prepotent bloodlines a
breeding was arranged (see below). Our limited experience with
this decision suggests that it may have been a very good
move.
From the past our
senior brood bitches are Buzzsaw's
Faraway Zena and Faraway
Stormy Yvonne, daughters of Buzzsaw's
Stormy
Jack. They are older daughters of Faraway Rambling Wanda. From
the above mentioned Joe Shadow
litter there is FarawayDancing Bonnie and Shadow's Faraway Amy. Faraway Raven is a daughter of Faraway Eddie and Faraway Hot Java. Faraway
Awsum Hank(deceased 6/27/11)and Faraway Gus (both Mrawsum X Faraway
Dancing Bonnie) will, hopefully, be our studs of the future. In
fact, Hank, quite by accident, has a pair of offspring on the ground
now out of Amy. This cross was planned, but most definitely not
for now...several years down the road was the target. Other than Yvonne
all of the above are winners and their pics may be
seen at this link.
Two emerging factors will undoubtedly influence our future trialing
activities. One factor is the ever increasing cost of fuel.
Being retired and using zero sum budgeting underlie this factor.
The other is the falling apart of plans for help from family and
friends in the field trial endeavors. Current indications
are that I may have to do this alone, if I wish to continue all-age
competition. The ultimate result of these two factors remain to be seen.
